The eruption of Covid-19 has led to a mass, world-wide adoption of a work from home (wfh) strategy in many organizations. Many companies around the world have decided to allow their employees to work from home rather than having to conduct mass layoffs. In the end, the organizations want to turn a profit and a well-connected and satisfied workforce is in direct correlation with its success at any point in time. Working virtually is not a new aspect in many organizations, however, this has resulted in a majority of a company’s workforce working from home, away from their supervisors and organizational leaders. Through the use of various technologies, i.e., live video chat, the direct contact between the employees and their leaders is no longer a necessity during extreme circumstances. For most industries, technological developments have enabled many firms to reduce the necessity of having employees at the office and has made it possible to sustain a smooth flow of work from home. Nonetheless, working from home comes with both its advantages and disadvantages. One of the major advantages is that an employees does not need expend much time and resources accessing their offices on a daily basis (Madanat and Khasawneh 2018). Many jobs now enable employees to virtually engage in their work environment via the internet and other key software tools that offer all the necessary services which allow them to connect with their teams. A potential downside to this is that it makes it more challenging for leadership to develop and maintain a close relationship with their employees and thus gauge levels of job satisfaction.

Specifically, the study aims to discover how workers perceive the role of HR in supporting them to increase their level of job satisfaction while working virtually. Based on the results of this study, HR in various organizations will be able to better understand what strategic decisions they could make in order to foster an employee’s job satisfaction as it pertains to employees whom can technically perform all of their job functions from home.
