Students will independently and critically analyze a paediatric case that is diagnosed with a common infectious condition (My topic: Hepatitis A) prevalent in Ontario using relevant research, developmental theories and best practice guidelines.
The condition chosen should align well with the appropriate age group, for example, Streptococcus A infection (Strep throat) is most commonly seen in school-age and adolescent patients as opposed to infants, therefore a school-age or adolescent patient would represent the case introduced.
The paper should:
a). briefly introduce the clinical case with the chosen condition
b). outline how the common signs and symptoms relate to the pathophysiology of the condition
c). describe recommended treatment(s) for the condition
d). discuss how principles of family-centred care, atraumatic approaches and developmental considerations for the case would be addressed.
Written submissions should be in APA 6th edition format, double spaced, ten pages in length (excluding title and reference pages). 10 scholarly references and should be within the last 5 years.
